Michael Cassidy joined McGuireWoods Consulting in February 2009 as a Vice President in the State Government Relations group. Michael services clients before the Illinois General Assembly and provides counsel in regards to coalition development, crisis communications, executive & legislative affairs, media relations, strategic positioning, and strategic communications and grassroots initiatives.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael worked as a senior member of Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan’s legislative staff. In that position he coordinated legislative agendas and media relations for many members of the Democratic caucus.
Michael also possesses substantial campaign experience having served is various supervisory roles on municipal, county, state and statewide campaigns. Working for the Democratic Party of Illinois, he was responsible for the advancement of Democratic candidates through grassroots organizing, strategic fundraising, message development, field coordination, crisis management, direct mail campaigns and earned and paid media.
